Welcome Aboard General Information

Learn important information about the base and surrounding area during the Welcome Aboard Brief. The brief is available to military personnel and spouses when they check-in with Information & Referral. WAB briefs aboard MCRD Parris Island are held Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1030 in room 27 of the IPAC Building. Welcome Aboard resource links are sent out to service members and their families with on and off base resources. 

Please Note: Personnel in the grades of E-1 through E-6, WO-1 and O-1 through O-2 must attend the mandatory Welcome Aboard Brief (Settling in Services) in accordance with MCO 1754.10B. Spouses are encouraged to attend!

Child Youth Programs: Resource & Referral

The Children & Youth Programs assist active duty and DOD civilian personnel in balancing the competing demands of family and accomplishing their mission, while improving the economic viability of the family unit. 

The Child Care Resource and Referral Office: 843-228-7279

  • Manages the central waiting list registry for www.militarychildcare.com 
  • Assists parents in locating and selecting out-of-home infant, pre-school and school-age childcare services on and off installation
  • Helps with finding services for children (including those with special needs) and location and selecting youth services on the installation
  • Refers trained teenage sitters for occasional hourly childcare
  • Provides access to parenting videos and written materials

  • MCAS Beaufort and MCRD Parris Island CDCs offer full-time and hourly care child care. Care is provided for children 6 weeks to 5 years of age. These programs are nationally accredited. All CDC's comply with DOD standards for staff qualifications, program quality, safety, sanitation nutrition. CDCs offer a variety of planned group and individual activities tailored to children's developmental needs.

Summary: 

The Installation Volunteer Coordinator connects Marines, Sailors, Family Members, and Civilians with volunteer opportunities on and off the installation. 

New Parent Support

The New Parent Support Program is an in-home family visitation program. Registered nurses and licensed social workers provide educational and supportive services to parents with children under the age of 6 years.

Fathers/Mothers-to-be can attend classes on caring for a newborn and learning skills from changing a diaper to soothing a crying baby. Play morning provides community resources connectivity which lessens feelings of isolation new parents often experience.
