Library Use & Collection

In order to open a new account, patrons must present a valid ID card and up-to-date contact information. Eligible patrons include,

  • Active Duty Service Members
  • Dependent Family Members
  • Retirees
  • GS/NAF employees aboard the base

Most items may be checked out from the library for three weeks at a time (including one renewal if the item does not have a hold). Library collections include

  • DVDs
  • Video Games
  • Audiobooks
  • Playaway Items
  • Fiction
  • Nonfiction
  • Reference
  • Young Adult
  • Children's Titles

Interlibrary loans from other Marine Corps libraries are available upon request.

Services

All services in the libraries are free and include faxing, scanning, copying, printing Wi-Fi, computer email access, laminating, game rooms, Hatch Computers for children books, audio-books, DVDs, and much more. Numerous Markerspace programs are provided on a bi-weekly basis. The United Through Reading Program allows patrons to record stories. Complete collections of the CMC and Navy Reading lists are available. E readers available for loan when utilizing the e-book collection. 

Multiple children's programming is available at the AS and PI libraries as well as on Laurel Bay. Sensory Story Time is provided on the first Thursday of the month. Please visit our Facebook page at facebook.com/mccssclibraries for current information about programs and services.

The MCRD Parris Islandr library has a wealth of informational resources from books to Internet access, as well as trained professionals to help you find what you need.

Patrons have access to:

  • Computers with internet and CAC access
  • Free printing, copying, scanning, and faxing (limit of five pages for printing/copying)
  • Free WiFi
  • TV, DVD player, WII, Xbox 360, and iPads for in-house use
  • Newspapers and magazines for in-house use
  • Board games for in-house use
